Imam al-Ghazali narrates in Ihya' Ulum ad-Diin that Al-Khidr (Rahimahullah) received the Musabbaat as a gift from the Holy Prophet (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) then taught them to Shaykh Ibrahim al-Taimi (Rahimahullah) in front of the Ka'aba and recommended their recitation. Ibrahim at-Taimi (Rahimahullah) then saw the Prophet (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in a dream and asked him regarding what was taught to him by Al-Khidr. Hence, the Prophet Prophet (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) acknowledged it and related to him some of its benefits. [1]
Although, there is nothing in the Musabbaat al-Ashr that contradicts Shariah. Scholars mention that the above narrative has no basis therefore, it would be best not to practice the Musabbaat. However, it would be permissible for one to practice the Musabbaat without the intention of it being a Sunnah. [2]
We advise you to practice on the athkaar and duas that are mentioned in reliable and authentic books such as Al-Athkar of Imaam Nawawi (Rahimahullah) and Hisnul Haseen of Imaam Jazri (Rahimahullah).
